Please accept this as a personal letter of reference for Charleston Yacht Delivery. A couple of months ago I needed to have my 396 Carver Yacht delivered on its own hull from Hilton Head, SC to the Washington, DC area via the ICW. After a lot of research on the internet as well as talking with friends to indentify a captain we could trust and count on, my wife and I agreed on Charleston Yacht Delivery. That was the best decision I have ever made for several reasons.
Since this was going to be a several day trip, I decided to join them for the first few days along with a first mate he hired. They were very through with their preparation both in plotting out the trip and with ensuring the Yacht was sea worthy. Their attention to detail was second to none. They present themselves in a professional manner and frankly they were enjoyable to be with on the trip.
Prior to reaching Myrtle Beach we ran into some mechanical issues. I was surprised to see the Captain actually get in the engine compartment with tools in an attempt to identify what the issue was and he did. He called ahead and had the parts delivered as well as located a mechanic to meet us at our next planned fuel stop in a Myrtle Beach.
Even though I had to depart for another engagement, I was very comfortable leaving him in command to ensue the work was done and finish the delivery. Even though this caused the delivery to be longer then contracted for, he stayed through the mechanical repairs and delivered my Yacht.
Many Captains would have abandoned it. I will always be grateful for their personal commitment to us and treating our cruiser as if it was their own. This speaks highly to their professionalism.
Upon reaching the destination, they cleaned and prepped the boat as it was before we left Hilton Head.
If you are considering a delivery, I would not hesitate to hire Charleston Yacht Delivery. They are very competent and will treat your boat as if it were their own.

This is an open letter of recommendation for Charleston Yacht Delivery. In short they are very well qualified as their resume will indicate. What I can tell you that is not in the resume, is that they are prompt and clear communicators. They arrived on time and were prepared for the job. While they are professional, they are also good company they have a positive and calm nature, that comes through when the (inevitable?) delivery gear failure occurs and there are running repairs needed.
I bought a cruising yacht in March 2008 and needed to move it up the coast from (Florida to Georgia.) I found a few delivery skipper listing on the internet and
contacted several. The response level was not great. It was not a huge job, in fact it was 2 days tops. The first company back to me was Charleston Yacht Delivery. This early response was an early indicator of how they works and we corresponded by email and spoke on the phone several times.
They asked good questions, their requirements list showed both experience and understanding about what can go wrong on a delivery. During the delivery they were
helpful in looking at some of the systems and making recommendations on repairs and upgrades etc.
Charleston Yacht Delivery is also very good at the “after-sales” service. After we finished the delivery they were helpful in the extreme, offering a lift to the airport and similar. I am living in London currently and so am a good distance from the boat. Since the delivery they have dropped by the boatyard to see the boat and sent me comments on the progress of the projects and the state of the boat.
I can assure you , both as a organization and as delivery skippers, I am glad I found Charleston Yacht Delivery.
